Peace descended
and silence loomed,
and in the darkness
two figures appeared
then disappeared
just as quickly
into the night.
Morning broke
with a happy sun,
the rooster crowed
from over the fence
‘Wake-up!!’ said he to all asleep
Miss 4 has run off with Mister 9 Jr.
again.
Noises arose in #4
Loud screaming and shouting
was heard
A door banged shut
And Mr from house #4
was seen charge out
with a gun.
Inquisitive #2
could not resist
of any gossip she
had to be a part.
So pulling a jacket
over her gown
she followed out.
#3 could not care less
of the ruckus below,
and not to be disturbed
by the fights
which would ensue
her blinds she
pulled low.
#6 still fast asleep
huddled up in his
blanket so thick
heard not a sound,
till rudely awakened
was he by banging
so loud
The incessant knocking,
voices roaring loud
continued booming
outside his house
With a pounding headache
and sleepy eyes #6 dragged
himself to the door
#7 who lived
across the street
watched the scene
from her window high.
‘You have the wrong house’
she tried to tell #4
but well, he did not hear
a word she said.
A box #6 got on
his runny nose
and flat he fell on his face
Miss 5 the nurse
from next door
rushed to her neighbour’s
aid
‘Wrong house again you dude’
said a booming voice
as he shoved the mister aside.
One box on his ears
he received
and Mister 4 too fell flat
on his knees
This looked exciting
for the young guns
watching from their homes around,
rushed they down
to join the fun
and a boxing match
on the street began
Conceited Mister 1
the true master mind,
who lived to create chaos
watched the happenings
on the street below
through the CCTV
he had installed
Miss 4 and Mister 9 Jr.
got live updates
of the mayhem their street
had descended into
Their mothers cried;
begged them to return
hoping for some peace
Smart they were and
soon realised
how this was Don 1’s game
Pawns they were,
being used by him
to achieve his own
endgame
Big and powerful,
mighty and strong
yet caring
for all on the street
That was the image
Mister 1 portrayed
by all those around
Toying with what action
they ought to take
to end the strife
they had begun
Miss 4 and Mr 9 Jr.
thought to return and that’s
when it all changed
An odd figure they met
on the train back home,
no shape, no size had he
Round, and round
but yet not so round
no not a ball
was he.
He had no beginning,
he had no end
Forever he just went on
A smile on one end
went all the way round
and then it all
got joined
They were intrigued
by this enigmatic stranger
who looked happy and
calm and at peace
His face glowed bright
and his secret they
just had to know.
They began a conversation
And he introduced himself
‘ I am Zero,’ said he.
‘I show the way
to lost souls whose
paths have gone
astray’
Miss and Mister Jr
at each other they looked
What luck had they
that they should met him
The very one
they needed
the most
Invited him to their
homes did they
and begged him to
guide them folks
confused and misled
they were the ones who had
lost their way
Looking at them
he only smiled
‘Nothing just happens
though it appears so.
Your street is just where
my path leads and
I must go’
A joy filled within
the two who realised,
no chance meeting
was this one.
It was all supposed
to happen
anyway
The pain they would all
have to endure and face
But through it
they would
learn and grow and
find the truth for them
life had in store.
