The Release

No emotions expressed
was the household rule.
No crying allowed,
and not much laughing too

Till that day
for an audition she went,
and happiness through tears
she had to present.

For years repressed
her mouth opened slight,
and a sound escaped it;
one little sigh.

From a whimper it grew
louder still,
a moan followed
before the laughter rung in.

And in that moment
her feelings revived,
a little bit of crying
had made her spirit alive
